Research Faculty Advisory Council (RFAC)

We strive to maintain a strong sense of community among Research Faculty in the CoC. By way of background, research faculty titles include Research Scientist, Research Associate, and Research Technologist. There are levels of I, II, Senior, and Principal for each of these titles. Your specific title is determined based on your field of most recent educational degree or experience, and your intended role within the College. By virtue of how hiring is done in the CoC, most of the College’s Research Technologists are currently associated with the Technology Services Organization (TSO), and the Research Associates are mostly hired at the College level. Research Scientists are spread across the four schools: School of Computer Science (SCS), School of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), School of Interactive Computing (IC), and School of Cybersecurity and Privacy (SCP). In any given year, there are approximately 30-40 Research Faculty in CoC.

The Dean’s Research Faculty Advisory Council (RFAC) was established in 2015 to serve a liaison between the Dean and CoC research faculty. The group is an elected body that meets regularly, sponsors informational meetings and social events, and serves as a voice to the Dean about concerns specific to research faculty. RFAC typically includes representatives from each of the schools, one member from the college, and one at-large member.

We strive to promptly add all new RF hires to this list. If you have not been receiving any messages, such as reminders about upcoming social events, you can request to subscribe by clicking on research-faculty here. Please note that this list is primarily intended for current research faculty in CoC (non-termed and termed RF).
