Fall 2019
  • Jason Riedy, Senior Research Scientist in SCS, presented at multiple workshops at the Supercomputing 2019 conference in Denver, Colorado.
Spring 2019
  • Alex Duncan, research associate in SCS, attended the 2019 European MOOCs (EMOOCs) Stakeholders Summit in Naples, Italy. As a participant in a plenary panel discussion entitled “The Scalability of Online Degrees”, he provided information about Georgia Tech’s OMSCS, discussed how Georgia Tech has addressed the challenges associated with scaling this program to nearly 9,000 students, and explored potential future challenges and solutions with the other panelists.
Spring 2018
  • Carrie Bruce, Research Scientist in IC, attended the M-Enabling Summit in Washington, D.C., a global conference that is focused on promoting accessibility in the digital space for seniors and those with disabilities.
  • Jiten Chabra, Research Scientist in IC, was a participant in the 2018 Georgia Healthcare Association Summer Convention where he networked and learned more about the cutting edge in developing and evaluating health-tech in relation to his research at Georgia Tech with IMTC. Due to the “silver tsunami”, senior living, post-acute care and aging-in-place are high growth areas of the future in health-tech, and this event allowed the opportunity to interact with and learn from thought leaders and practitioners in these areas.
  • School of Computational Science and Engineering Senior Research Scientist Jason Riedy presented two talks at the 25th IEEE Symposium on Computer Arithmetic. One invited talk was, ‘Plans for IEEE Standard 754-2028’ and a paper talk presented alongside ACM Fellow and EECS Department Chair of University of California at Berkeley,James Demmelfor, ‘Augmented Arithmetic Operations Proposed for IEEE 754-2018.’
  • Computer Science Research Scientist Jeffrey Young presented ‘A power-tunable algorithm to compute single-source shortest paths’ at IPDPS 2018 in Vancouver and helped to host sessions at the AsHES workshop. The presented paper was written with Ph.D. student Sara Karamati and primary advisor, Dr. Richard Vuduc.
Fall 2017
  • Jillian Morn, Research Associate in CoC, attended and gave two conference presentations at the Southern Association for Institutional Research (SAIR) annual conference in Fort Worth, Texas on October 9th, 2017.  Jillian co-presented “Project Management and Organization Theory for Institutional Researchers” with Justin Shepherd of Emory Law and also presented a talk entitled “The Uses and Misuses of Data in Institutional Research” with Karen Webber of the University of Georgia (UGA).
  • Ken Honea, Research Technologist in CoC, attended the Large Installation System Administration (LISA) conference in San Francisco, CA in October 2017. At LISA, Ken was able to network with fellow technologists and IT experts and was also able to attend several training workshops
